Describing Sunil Narine as the man with a "golden arm", former India captain Sourav Ganguly said the Kolkata Knight Riders' ‘mystery’ spinner would be the team's trump card in the sixth season of the Indian Premier League T20.

"For (KKR skipper) Gautam Gambhir, he is the man with the golden arm. He was the person behind KKR's success last season. He is their trump card and will again create an impact this time," Ganguly said on the sidelines of KKR's six wicket win over Delhi Daredevils at the Eden on Wednesday.

Sunil NarineThe retired India left-hander, who last represented Pune Warriors India last season before calling it quits from all formats, feels KKR is one of the favourites to win the title.

"I am pleased to see them play so well. I am happy for their victory. A win in the first match is always vital. Now, they need to build on this momentum. KKR's bowling attack is definitely their strength. Surely they are one of the favourites," Ganguly said.

Gautam Gambhir scored a brisk 29-ball 42 to help KKR chase down 129 with eight balls to spare and Ganguly said the KKR skipper would have to hold on to form.

"It's just the beginning. Hope Gambhir holds on to his form for the next two months."

Asked about Daredevils flop show, Ganguly said they missed Virender Sehwag.

"Sehwag’s absence was a huge blow to Delhi. But then, injuries are a part and parcel of the game... You cannot control it... But I hope that he recovers fast," Ganguly said.

Ganguly arrived five minutes into the start of the game amid huge cheers and said he thoroughly enjoyed the match.
