The morning session of the 2011 Indian Premier League [ Images ] Players' Auction saw a lot of action with quite a few surprises. A whole of lot of players enrolled themselves in the millionaries' club.

Gautam Gambhir [ Images ] signed up for Kolkata Knight Riders [ Images ] for a record $2.4 million, the highest-ever paid for a player in the history of the T20 league.

The Shahrukh-Khan owned outfit also made another notable purchase in Yusuf Pathan [ Images ] for $2.1 million, the same amount Sahara Pune Warriors paid for Robin Uthappa [ Images ].

Rohit Sharma [ Images ] also reaped rich rewards with Mumbai Indians [ Images ] securing his signature for a whopping $2million.

The most surprising pick of the session was Indian discard and the injury-prone Irfan Pathan [ Images ], who was bought by Delhi Daredevils [ Images ] for $1.9million ahead of the likes of India's limited overs specialist Yuvraj Singh [ Images ], who was bought by Pune for $1.8million.

Team Kochi also made their presence felt when they got the services of Sri Lankan veteran Mahela Jayawardene [ Images ] for $1.5 million, but his captain Kumar Sangakkara [ Images ] fetched a lower rate at $700,000 and was taken by Deccan Chargers [ Images ].

Australia's [ Images ] Cameron White [ Images ] (Deccan Chargers), South Africans Jacques Kallis [ Images ] (Kolkata Knight Riders) and AB de Villiers [ Images ] (Royal Challengers [ Images ] Bangalore) each bagged $1.1 million.

New Zealand's [ Images ] Ross Taylor [ Images ] was another notable purchase when he was purchased by Rajasthan Royals [ Images ] for $1m.
