Delhi Daredevils skipper JP Duminy admitted that his team were "outplayed" in all departments of the game by Royal Challengers Bangalore in their Indian Premier League match on Sunday.

Varun Aaron (2/24) and Mitchell Starc (3/20) produced fiery spells of fast bowling to help RCB first dismiss Delhi Daredevils for a paltry 95 after opting to field at the Feroz Shah Kotla and then chase down the target in 10.3 overs, with openers Chris Gayle (62 not out off 40 balls) and Virat Kohli (35 not out off 23) remaining unbeaten.

"We were outplayed in every department. Lot of lessons to be learnt out of the game. They took wickets at regular intervals and we could not build a partnership," Duminy said.

"We have a few days off and we need to regroup and pick it up again."

RCB skipper Virat Kohli was all praise for the effort put in by his side.

"He (Chris Gayle) is pretty cool on the outside but pretty intense on the inside. I am more expressive, so it balances it out and that's why we open.

“I think we have the right combination now. We wanted to give Varun (Aaron) a chance. He steamed in and got wickets. This is the most balanced combination we are playing. The way Mitch (Starc) picks up wickets with his in-swinging yorkers, it’s moral-boosting. The last game we had a timely win. Momentum is hard to get. When you get it you shouldn't lose it," he added.

Man-of-the-match Varun Aaron said: "It really came together today. I was bowling well in patches before. We have been planning to get wickets early. That happened today. The body has been good after surgery. I tried to bowl faster and it came out well."
