RCB suspends Pomersbach from the ongoing IPL

Royal Challengers Bangalore suspended Australian Luke Pomersbach, who was arrested on Friday for assaulting a woman, from the ongoing IPL.

"Pending disposal of this matter Luke Pommersbach will not take the field for the Royal Challengers Bangalore," read a statement from the franchise.

"The Royal Challengers Bangalore regrets the incident involving Luke Pommersbach. We will ensure full co-operation with the concerned authorities so that a fair investigation takes place and the issue is disposed off in accordance with law," it added.

The 27-year-old Pomersbach's conduct prompted RCB owner Vijay Mallya to suspend the batsman, who has not played a single IPL match so far this season, till the time he is cleared of the charges.

The Australian player allegedly misbehaved with the woman, a US citizen, at a five-star hotel in Delhi and has been arrested, the police said.

A case has been registered against him under various sections of IPC, including section 354 of IPC (outraging modesty of woman), 323 (hurt), 454 (house trespass) and 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment).
