After blazing his way to an unbeaten century off only 55 balls, Chris Gayle didn't show any inhibitions in admitting that he is an entertainer whom the people would love to watch.

"I am an entertainer. When you don't entertain people they curse you. I know it was tough luck for KKR but I hope the crowd enjoyed the sixes that I hit. I have always enjoyed playing at the Eden Gardens. Ultimately, it's the big hits that crowds come to see in T20," Gayle said.

For someone, who went unsold at the IPL auctions, it must have been satisfying to go up and hug KKR co-owner Jay Mehta at the post-match ceremony.

Gayle, who was recently dropped from the West Indies side said that he hadn't picked up the bat since World Cup.

"Entering into the tournament, I was a bit light on job back home. I haven't practised much and I held the bat for the first time after World Cup. But God is great and it has been a good start for me," the bug bodied Jamaican said.

Chris GayleHe did admit that it was scary when Virat Kohli hit a long hop for a boundary.

"I just went up and told him to block each and every delivery. In fact he and Dilshan released a lot of pressure off me. We have a great team. Myself and Dilshan communicated very well."

Asked about the nature Eden strip, Gayle's assessment was that it played well.

"It was a good wicket to bat on. It played well although Eden Gardens wicket could be unpredictable."

Kohli on his part said that he deliberately blocked the deliveries so that Gayle could reach the milestone.

"The kind of innings he played, he deserved every bit of that century. Frankly, I was disappointed when Iqbal bowled that wide delivery but that must have slipped off his hands."

RCB skipper Daniel Vettori sounded a happy man as this was a kind of "must-win" game for his side.

"With one win, we have climbed up from ninth to fifth place. It tells how close the teams are," Vettori said.

Rival skipper Gautam Gambhir found it difficult to digest the defeat.

"We though that 171 was a good score on this track but when someone plays such an innings, you can hardly do anything. We have couple of days rest before we can introspect," Gambhir said.
