Lalit Modi backs magazine's spot-fixing claims

A few days after raking up a controversy over the pitch at the Sawai Man Singh stadium in Jaipur, former Indian Premier League chairman Lalit Modi hogged the limelight again by backing an investigation by Sports Illustrated into rampant spot-fixing in the subcontinent.

The magazine has claimed that the second edition of the IPL, which was held in South Africa, and some of the matches in the recently-concluded World Cup were fixed by a sophisticated bookmaker network.

"Some of the incidents described are factual. Quite an accurate story. Well researched I must say," Modi wrote on his Twitter page on Tuesday.

Modi had earlier suggested that the change of pitch for the IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings in Jaipur was done at the behest of Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary N Srinivasan.
