26 Runs scored by Hardik Pandya in one over from Malinda Pushpakumara. The sequence --- 4 4 6 6 6 0 -- this is the maximum an Indian batsman has scored off one over in Test cricket. Sandeep Patil hit 24 runs off one Bob Willis over at Manchester in 1982 (six fours), while Kapil Dev also scored 24 runs off Eddie Hemmings at Lord’s in 1990 (he hit four consecutive sixes after playing first two balls defensively without scoring).

2 Number of teams to have scored 400+ totals in all three matches of a series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. India emulated Australia, which did so in 2004.

82 Number of consecutive innings after which Angelo Mathews was dismissed for a duck in Test cricket. His last duck had come against Pakistan at Galle in 2012.

37.4 The number of overs in which Sri Lanka were bundled out in their first innings. Interestingly, it took Sri Lanka 39.3 overs to take India’s first wicket!

1 Virat Kohli became the first Indian captain to enforce the follow-on in consecutive Tests of an away series. There have been three such instances for India at home.
