After having curbed his aggressive instincts for most parts of the morning session, he scored only one boundary in the period, Clarke stepped out of his crease and hit a Ravindra Jadeja delivery straight to Bhuvaneshwar Kumar at long-off.

It was a careless shot to say the least, coming from Australia’s captain and best batsman. And it cost the visitors a few vital runs, most certainly a 400-plus total (read psychological advantage).
