Steven Smith is averaging 61.12 in a winning cause in Tests -- his aggregate being 978 runs in 11 Tests, including five hundreds and two fifties.

# Smith has got his second Man of the Match award. His first award in Tests was against England at Perth in December last year.

# Smith is the ninth player to get the Man of the Match award on captaincy debut.

# Chris Rogers became the ninth opening batsman to record two fifties in a Test match at Gabba, Brisbane.

Johnson lifts Australia to victory

Mitchell Johnson, with 42 wickets at 21.92 runs apiece in eight Tests, is the leading wicket-taker for Australia in Tests this year.

# Australia enjoy an outstanding record. They have not lost a single Test in the last 26 Tests contested at Gabba, Brisbane. They have won 19 and drawn seven. Against India, they have won five and drawn one out of six Tests contested at Gabba, Brisbane.

# The Brisbane Test has recorded 4.12 runs per over – the highest in a Test match on Australia soil (minimum 1200 balls bowled).

# Five times a side has lost the Test inside four days after scoring 400 in the first innings. Australia have won four such games and India just once.

Haddin equals Aussie wicket-keeping record, ninth overall

Brad Haddin has effected nine dismissals for the second time in a Test match. He is the third Australian wicketkeeper to achieve the feat at Gabba -- Rod Marsh in November 1982 and Ian Healy in November 1994 -- both against England.

# Nineteen times in a Test match, a wicketkeeper has taken nine catches or more. The Australian record is held by Adam Gilchrist -- 10 catches vs New Zealand at Hamilton in March/April 2000.

Second highest score against Australia for Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has posted his second fifty in Tests -- his first against Australia.

# Dhawan's splendid 81 off 145 balls is his second highest score against Australia in Tests behind his career-best -- 187 off 174 balls at Mohali in March 2013.

# Dhawan's 81 is his second highest score in a losing cause in Tests, next only to the 115 vs New Zealand at Auckland in February 2014.

# Dhawan and Yadav have shared a stand of 60 -- India's highest eighth-wicket partnership against Australia at Brisbane, bettering the 59 by ML Jaisimha and Erapalli Prasanna in January 1968.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has posted his 10th duck in Tests -- his second vs Australia. His tally of eight ducks as captain-cum-wicketkeeper is the highest in Tests.

# Rohit Sharma has recorded his first duck vs Australia -- his third in Tests.

# Since recording 72 vs New Zealand at Auckland in February 2014, Rohit is without a fifty in nine successive innings.

# India have lost six successive Tests against Australia in Australia - all four in the 2011-12 series and the first two in the present rubber.

# Cheteshwar Pujara, during his 43, has completed his 2,000 runs in Tests -- his tally being 2027 (ave.48.26) in 26 Tests.

# His feat of recording the milestone in 46 innings is the eighth fastest by an Indian in Tests. Both Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag took 40 innings to their respective 2,000.

# Umesh Yadav (30) has recorded his highest score in Tests, bettering the 21 vs Australia at MCG in December 2011.

Ishant Sharma records best bowling figures in Australia

Ishant Sharma (3/38) has recorded his best bowling figures in a Test innings in Australia, surpassing the three for 115 at Adelaide in January 2008.

# Ishant's figures of six for 155 are his best in a Test match in Australia.

# In a losing cause in Tests, Ishant is averaging 56.26 -- his tally being 45 wickets in 20 Tests.

# Ishant has claimed Watson's wicket six times in 10 Tests -- the most times an Indian bowler has captured his wicket.
