Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar has criticised India’s batsmen, describing them as escapist following a three wicket loss in the One-Dayer against England on Friday.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men were knocked out of the ODI Tri-series without securing a single win.
Reflecting on India's defeat against England, Gavaskar said that most of the batsmen were escapists, content in staying at the other end or playing rash shots and getting out, News.com.au reported.
Gavaskar further said that most of the Indian batsmen looked like they just wanted to give up, adding that cricket was not about that, it was about putting up a fight.
India's opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been the main villain in the team experiencing a massive slump in form and hence unable to give the team a good start at the top of the order.
Struggling for runs since landing in Australia for the ongoing tour, the left-hander has scored just one fifty in 10 innings, which includes the Test and tri-series, and question marks over his place in the side are growing by the day.
