Chennai Superstars beat Mumbai Champs

Chennai Superstars gained valuable points from their 83-run win over Mumbai Champs in their round robin league match of the Indian Cricket League domestic tournament in Chennai on Monday.

Batting first, the hosts helped by its top order batsmen, made a sizeable total of 280 for 8 in 50 overs and then dismissed Mumbai for 197 in 46.5 overs.

Chennai's openers, C Hemanth Kumar (71 runs, 9 fours) and V Devendran (52, 8 fours and a six) put on a useful 66 runs for the first wicket in 11.3 overs after which Hemanth Kumar and V Saravanan (52, 5 fours) put on 112 for the second wicket in 21.3 overs.

Former India player, Hemang Badani chipped with 36 runs. For Mumbai, Avinash Yadav (4 for 49) and Ravi Raj Patil (2 for 45) were the main wicket takers.

In reply, Mumbai batsmen wilted under pressure from medium pacer, Jesuraj, who maintained a good line and length to dismiss five batsmen for 41 runs in ten overs.

T Kumaran and D T Kumaran took a brace of wickets giving away 26 and 43 runs respectively.

For Mumbai, A.A.Sanklecha (23), Ravi Raj Patril (31), Ranjeet Khirid (35) and Sridhar Iyer (27) were the main scorers.
