ICC confirm Hair's return

Last updated on: January 15, 2007 14:35 IST

Darrell Hair, sacked from the elite umpires panel in November following the Pakistan ball-tampering row, will make his return in a one-day series in Kenya, the International Cricket Council confirmed on Sunday.

Hair will stand in Kenya's match with Scotland in Mombasa on Wednesday which opens a triangular series also involving Canada.

Former India paceman Javagal Srinath has been named Match Referee for the January 17-24 tri-series in Mombasa involving Kenya, Scotland and Canada.

The Australian is being permitted to officiate because the three teams, ICC Associate countries, are not full Test nations.

''The inclusion of Darrell Hair in these appointments follows the decision of the ICC Executive Board in November 2006 not to appoint him to future matches involving Full Members,'' the ICC said in a statement.

Roshan Mahanama from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees will oversee the tournament.

The top two teams from the ICC World Cricket League Division 1 will qualify for the inaugural ICC Twenty20 World Championships in South Africa in September
