Former India batsman Vinod Kambli was admitted to the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai on Friday after suffering a heart attack.
He was admitted to the cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, in suburban Bandra, and is undergoing treatment, hospital sources said.
Kambli, who played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India, was in the news after he revealed that he is no longer a friend of Sachin Tendulkar and had not met or spoken with him since the last seven years.
The 42-year-old claimed he was hurt after the batting icon did not mention his name in his farewell, retirement speech and also did not invite him for his dinner party, in Mumbai, which was attended by all his team mates and close friends.
Kambli burst into the limelight after his world record record partnership of 664 runs with Tendulkar in the Harris Shield inter-school tournament in February 1988. He retired from first-class cricket in 2011.
It is learnt that he had undergone angioplasty on two blocked arteries last year.
