The result, besides helping start the new year on a winning note, also made up somewhat for the embarrassment against England last year.

Tendulkar and Pujara greet each ohter after India's victoryMS Dhoni led from the front with a record-breaking 224, while R Ashwin, playing in his first Test on home ground, finished with match figures of 12 for 198, a significant contribution to the Indian cause.

With three more Test matches to be played, in Hyderabad, Mohali and Delhi respectively, will this win spur Team India to further success?

Or, will Australia, led by the ever-dependable Michael Clarke, bounce back?

Discuss the first Test, with India Abroad's Bikash Mohapatra on Rediff ZaraBol at 14.45 IST.
