Police are investigating allegations that two Essex county cricket players were involved in 'match irregularities'.
Essex police said they are working closely with the club and the English Cricket Board.
No names were given and a police spokeswoman was unable to provide any further details.
"Following allegations received about two Essex County Cricket players involved in match irregularities we have intitiated an investigation and are working closely with Essex County Cricket Club and the English Cricket Board," the police statement said.
