England clueless about opponent for warm-up ODI!

Last updated on: October 05, 2011 14:55 IST

England's ODI side arrived in India on Tuesday and plays its first warm-up game on Saturday, but it still does not know against whom.

At the moment, just three days before the game, nobody knows who England will play or even what the team is called.

"I understand we are struggling to find a team to play against," said Richard Halsall, the coach-in-charge until Andy Flower, delayed by a recent shoulder surgery as well as Tuesday's OBE awards ceremony at Buckingham Palace, arrives in India on Thursday.

Halsall said he is focused on preparing the players, leaving tour manager Phil Neale to seek further clarification on the matter.

At the moment the Champions League is in full swing in India and there is a quasi-Test trial going on, involving the Rest of India against Rajasthan in the Irani Cup.

The Indian selectors are waiting for the outcome of the Irani Cup before revealing the identity of the team and the players who will play England here from Saturday.

The Indian side has been hit by a series of by injuries to Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and VVS Laxman. England also has their casualties, with both Stuart Broad and Eoin Morgan missing this tour.
