Pacer R Vinay Kumar ran through the New Zealand 'A' middle-order, grabbing four wickets, as India scored an emphatic nine-wicket victory in the Emerging Players' Meet, at the Endeavour Ground, in Townsville, Queensland, on Monday.
Vinay, who retained his place in India's ODI squad for the tour of England, had figures of four for 33, as New Zealand were dismissed for 239 in their second essay, leaving India a paltry 108 for victory.
New Zealand had scored 272 in the first innings, in reply to India's 404, courtesy Manoj Tiwary's magnificent 188.
Ajinkya Rahane (45 not out) and wicketkeeper-batsman Chandrasekhar Gautham (44 not out) knocked off the required runs in 17.3 overs.
India have nine points from two matches while New Zealand were docked three negative points for the defeat.
New Zealand 'A' started the day at a precarious 48 for three, still needing 84 runs to avoid an innings defeat. But Daniel Flynn (80, 188 balls, 8x4) and Dean Brownlie (88, 176 balls, 10x4, 3x6) batted sensibly, adding 148 runs for the fourth wicket, to raise hopes of a draw.
But once Flynn was caught by Ambati Rayudu off Iqbal Abdullah, the rest of the batsman did not show any stomach for a fight.
The last six wickets fell for 34 runs, as Vinay accounted for three.
The Indians play their final encounter against Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) at Endeavour Park from August 11-13.
