Dhoni fourth fastest to complete 8,000 ODI runs

Mahendra Singh DhoniIndia's captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the fourth fastest batsman to complete 8,000 runs in One-Day Internationals during the fifth and final ODI against New Zealand, in Wellington, on Friday.

The 32-year-old reached the milestone in the 26th over of the Indian innings at the Westpac stadium.

India, chasing 304 runs for their first victory on the tour, were dismissed for 216 in 49.4 overs and lost by 87 runs, and series 0-4.

It is a commendable achievement by the wicketkeeper-batsman who comes in lower down the order. 

The three men ahead of him in the illustrious list are compatriots Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and West Indies legend Lara, all of whom batted in the top three. 

Dhoni, who scored 47 in the match, took 214 innings to attain the landmark.
