Former Board of Control for Cricket in India chief Jagmohan Dalmiya on Saturday skipped the Working Committee meeting of the Board before next month's Annual General Meeting, preferring to depute another representative of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) which he is currently heading.

CAB is being represented by Biswarup Dey at the one-day sitting of the BCCI at its headquarters in Mumbai.

Dalmiya, fighting a court battle with the parent body for alleged embezzlement of 1996 World Cup funds, could now be seen at the AGM next month.

Dalmiya, arrested on March 26 this year and released on bail for alleged misappropriation of PILCOM (Pakistan-India-Sri Lanka Committee) funds worth Rs 2.90 crore, stormed back to the helm of affairs of CAB at the recent elections.

The ex-chief of the International Cricket Council, expelled by the current ruling group in the BCCI in December 2006 from the apex cricket body, had to step down as the president of CAB, but after lengthy legal battles he was allowed to contest the elections in July 2007.

The BCCI Working Committee meeting will finalise the dates and venue of next month's AGM at which president-elect Shashank Manohar is to take over the reins from incumbent chief Sharad Pawar.

"With the last AGM paving the way for paid selectors, the modalities of the new system would be discussed and finalised at the Working Committee meeting," according to BCCI sources.

A meeting of the Finance Committee of the board, headed by Sudhir Nanavati of Gujarat CA, was held on Friday. The decisions taken in that meeting will also be ratified.

The meeting would also finalise the annual report ahead of tabling it at the AGM.
