Bangalore to host India-England ODI after Jamshedpur backs out

September 26, 2008 16:01 IST

Due to the unavailability of the Keenan Stadium, the proposed one-day international match between India and England, which was scheduled to be played in Jamshedpur, will now be played in Bangalore on November 23.

''JSCA today informed the BCCI that due to the unavailability of the Keenan stadium, it will not be able to host the proposed match between India and England,'' a top BCCI source told UNI over phone.

''In that case, according to the rotation policy, the match will now be played in Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangaore,'' he added.

However, the final decision will be taken at the BCCI Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) on September 27 in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) confirmed that since it has not been given the possession of the Keenan Sstadium by Tata Steel authorities, it will not be able to host the proposed ODI match between India and England.

JSCA secretary Rajesh Verma told UNI that despite the BCCI's fixed date line, there has been no response from Tata Steel on the availability of the stadium.

''The BCCI has been officially informed that even after constant requests, the Tata steel authorities have still not given the possession of the Keenan Stadium and therefore, it will be impossible to host the match here,'' Verma said.

''We have also asked the BCCI to find an alternate venue to hold the match,'' Verma added.

Verma said the JSCA president Amitabh Chaudhary has personally informed the BCCI on Friday in Mumbai about the unavailability of the stadium. However, Tata steel officials declined to comment on the issue.
