England's supremacy can last for years: Boycott

Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott believes that the Andrew Strauss-led England team's supremacy in Test cricket can last for years.

Boycott's comment comes after England took an unassailable 2-1 lead after crushing Australia by an innings and 157 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

"I can't remember when England last had six quick bowlers to choose between. It is a great position to be in when you think of how much cricket is being played," Boycott wrote in an article for the Telegraph.

"Andy Flower and the selectors should look to rotate the squad as Sir Alex Ferguson does with Manchester United. With such quality in the reserves, they can afford to rest players, switch them around and keep them fresh.

"Not only will that maintain the penetration of England's seam attack in every match, but it will extend careers for senior bowlers such as James Anderson," he added.

Boycott further said that the Australians spent so much time basking in the glory of the previous generation that they forgot to plan for the current team.

"It is just like the West Indies again; once their great names from the 1970s and 1980s retired, the whole thing fell apart," Boycott wrote.
