Cricket's ruling body said the master batsman was penalised for removing grass from the ball without the permission of the umpires.

The BCCI president, in a communication to Malcolm Speed, said "rules specifically forbid disclosure of the composition of the team".

The ICC's stand
I fail to understand the ICC's stand. They say that Sehwag has been banned for 1 test. Then they say that India has forfeited the 3rd Test match, the series result stands at 2-0 in favour of South Africa.
