With the Champions Trophy [Images] being rescheduled by the International Cricket Council [Images], the second edition of the Champions League Twenty20 [Images] next year has been postponed by two weeks.

The second edition of the Champions League Twenty20 was scheduled to be held from September 25 to October 10 next year but it will now be held from October 10 to 23 after the ICC [Images] rescheduled the Champions Trophy from September 24 to October 5, 2009.

"This (rescheduling of Champions League Twenty20) was a goodwill response to a request from the International Cricket Council to consider new playing dates for 2009," a joint statement of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Cricket Australia [Images] and Cricket South Africa [Images] said on Thurday.

Twelve teams will take part in the competition.

The inaugural Champions League Twenty20 will be held in India from December 3 to 10 this year. Eight teams winners and runners-up from the domestic Twenty20 competitions in India, Australia and South Africa, plus the Twenty20 champion Sialkot from Pakistan, and Twenty20 champion from England [Images], Middlesex, will contest the 2008 Champions Twenty20 League.

The tournament has a US $6 million prize fund, out of which the winning team will get US $3 million.
