Pujara cracks triple ton

Promising middle order batsman, Cheteshwar Pujara celebrated his inclusion in Challenger Trophy by cracking a triple century against visitors Maharashtra in the four-day CK Nayuddu under-22 match which ended in draw in Rajkot on Monday.

Put into bat first, Maharashtra rode on S Ajitkar's 120-run knock and A Joshi's unbeaten 89 to score 368 runs in 145.2 overs.

For Saurashtra, Balkrishna Jadeja scalped five for 27 runs while Dev Odedara got two conceding 67 runs.

Chasing the visitors healthy target in the first innings, Saurashtra piled up huge 546 runs for the lost of eight wickets in 168 overs.

Cheteshwar Pujara played a marathon innings, spending 696 minutes at the crease, scoring 386 off 558 balls which included 38 hits to the fence and five sixes.

Pujara was supported well by another promising all rounder Ravindra Jadeja (72) as the hosts took a huge 178 runs lead in the first innings.

In their second essay, Saurashtra scored 50 runs in the remaining 27 overs of the day, losing two wickets.

Saurashtra secured three points for their first innings lead in the drawn match.
