The Indian Premier League [Images] match between Delhi Daredevils [Images] and Kolkata Knight Riders [Images] at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Thursday was called off because of rains.

Both the teams were awarded a point each following the abandonment.

Delhi moved up to fourth in the table, one point ahead of Mumabi but having played two games more. They face Mumbai in their final match at the same venue.

Kolkata's points tally is now 11 from 13 matches and they are out of contention for a semi-final spot

Earlier, a steady drizzle delayed the start of the match and the umpires subsequently decided no play was possible after inspecting the conditions..

The tie had immense importance for both teams, with the Virender Sehwag-led hosts needing a win to brighten their chance of a semi-final berth.

In contrast, the Kolkata side, led by Sourav Ganguly [Images], were in an unenviable position, where their semi-final hopes existed only in complicated calculations.
