Deodhar Trophy: West beat South

Superb bowling by Munaf Patel [Images], Ajit Agarkar [Images] and Siddharth Trivedi helped West Zone defeat South Zone by 26 runs in the Deodhar Trophy Cricket match in Bangalore on Wednesday.

Trivedi took 3-38 while Patel (33/2) and Agarkar (46/2) supported well as West bundled out the hosts for 246 runs in 49.4 overs.

West, put in to bat, scored 272 all out in 49.5 overs, the highlight being Abhishek Nair's breezy knock of 90.

Earlier, Parthiv Patel (29) and Rohit Sharma (33) gave a good start to West Zone.

R Vinay Kumar (3/43) was the most successful bowler for South Zone.

In reply, South Zone lost wickets at regular intervals with only S Badrinath managing to stem the rot with a valiant 64.

West Zone: 272 all out in 49.5 overs
South Zone: 246 all out in 49.4 overs
