A fine spell of swing bowling by New Zealand pacer Daryl Tuffey (3/15) helped Chandigarh Lions register a 34-run win over Delhi Giants in the sixth match of the ICL's Twenty20 tournament in Panchkula on Saturday.

Chasing 154 for victory, Giants were bundled out for 119 in the penultimate over. They lost their openers Avishka Gunawardene (5) and Monish Mishra (6) cheaply, with the latter becoming Tuffey's first victim.

The Giants's misery was compounded by the fact that they lost three of their batsmen to run outs, including skipper Marvan Atapattu, who was well set on 29.

After the skipper's fall, Abhinav Bali (32) batted with confidence and appeared to have taken the attack to the opposition, but once he got out with scorecard reading 88 for 6, the tail packed up quickly.

Earlier, Matthew Elliot (35) and TP Singh (39) helped the Lions post a decent total after electing to bat. Opener Lou Vincent (20) and middle-order batsman Chetan Sharma (21) also made useful contributions.

Brief Scores:

Chandigarh Lions 153 for 6 in 20 overs (T P Singh 39; M Elliot 35; Benkenstein 2/43; Shane Bond 1/22) beat Delhi Giants 119 all out in 18.1 overs (A Bali 31; Marvan Atapattu 29; Daryl Tuffey 3/15; T P Singh 2/8).
