Team for ODI series, Champions Trophy to be picked on August 6

The national selection panel headed by Dilip Vengsarkar will pick the squad for the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka [Images] after the second Test at Galle, the Cricket Board said on Monday.

"The team for the one-day series against Lanka would be chosen on August 6 in Mumbai. We are trying to pick the final squad of the Champions Trophy too on the same day though we have time till August 12 to do so", BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah told PTI on Monday.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni [Images], who had opted out of the three-Test series currently in progress in Lanka, is expected to attend the meeting as captain of the one-day team.

The one-dayers kick-off at Dumbulla on August 18 which is to host the second tie too on August 20. Both are day matches. 

The last three day-night internationals are to be held at Colombo's Premadasa Stadium on August 24, 26 and 29.

The ICC [Images] Champions Trophy is scheduled in Pakistan from September 11-24.
