Munaf to replace R P Singh

Munaf Patel [Images] will replace injured R P.Singh for the upcoming limited-overs' tri-series, involving Australia and Sri Lanka [Images], Down Under.

As the left-arm pacer will be out of action for three weeks because of a torn hamstring, sustained on the second day of the drawn fourth and final Test against Australia, it was decided to send Patel.

Chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar and Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah after speaking with selectors Sanjay Jagdale, Bhupinder Singh, and V Raju and Ranjib Biswal, both currently in Australia, skipper M S Dhoni [Images], and manager Chetan Chauhan decided on the replacement.

Yuvraj Singh [Images], who is nursing a knee injury is likely to miss the first ODI. He will be examined by an orthopedic surgeon in Melbourne on Wednesday. Manoj Tiwari, who is selected as back-up for Yuvraj, will fly to Australia as soon as visa and other formalities are completed.
