Bucknor returns to Test duty February 22, 2008 13:45 IST Umpire Steve Bucknor [Images] returned to duty in the first Test between South Africa and Bangladesh in Dhaka on Friday. It is the West Indies [Images] umpire's first assignment since being embroiled in controversy last month. The 61-year-old Jamaican was dropped by the International Cricket CouncilĀ from the India- Australia Test series following pressure from India, who criticised his performance in their 122-run defeat against the hosts in Sydney. Widely respected and instantly recognisable, Bucknor had umpired a record 120 Test matches, as well as 167 one-day games, before being dropped. Only David Shepherd of England [Images] and Rudi Koertzen of South Africa have umpired more one-day internationals. Bucknor has also stood in five successive World Cup finals. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
