Champions League T20 cancelled

The inaugural edition of the Champions League Twenty20 [Images] tournament has been cancelled. A statement from the organisers said the tournament will now be held in October 2009.
Originally scheduled to be played in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai from December 3 to 10, 2008 it was postponed in view of the terror attacks on Mumbai on November 26.
Lalit Modi [Images], chairman, Champions League Twenty20 and BCCI vice-president, said, "The inaugural edition of the Champions League Twenty20 will now be held in India in October 2009. The Governing Council, comprising the founder Board members took this collective decision after taking into account all aspects."
The Governing Council, comprising the founder Board members -- Board of Control for Cricket in India, Cricket Australia [Images] and Cricket South Africa [Images] -- took the decision after considering all aspects including the international calendar and the domestic schedules of the participating teams, the statement added.
Six teams -- two from each of the founding Board members -- are confirmed as participants. Other participating teams will be finalised by the end of January 2009.
Invitations will be extended to the winners/finalists of the respective countries' domestic Twenty20 tournaments of the participating countries.
