Rohan Gavaskar on Wednesday said the prospect of playing alongside leading international cricketers lured him into joining the multi-million dollar Indian Cricket League.

"ICL has provided me an opportunity to play with the international cricketers. And, that's why I have decided to join it," the 31 year old said.

Rohan did not deny that money was one of the criteria for his decision to opt for the ICL.

"But that is not the only consideration. The main propelling force was the prospect of playing with international cricketers".

Rohan said he is in an advanced stage of his career and saw little chance of being picked for the national squad in future.

"It will be tough for me to make it to the Indian team again as the board is constantly on the lookout for younger players."

Rohan, son of cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar [Images], said he discussed the matter with his illustrious father before taking the plunge.

"I discussed it with him. He told me the positives and negatives, and then left the final decision to me. The final decision is completely mine," said the left hander, who has been turning out for Bengal for the last few seasons.

Rohan has played in 11 one-day internationals besides captaining Bengal in the Ranji Trophy.
