India elect to bat in fifth ODI October 11, 2007 08:51 IST Last Updated: October 11, 2007 09:12 IST India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni [Images] won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in the fifth one-day international in Vadodara on Thursday. India, down 2-1, are hoping Sachin Tendulkar's [Images] 400th one-day appearance will inspire them to a series-levelling win. Tendulkar hit a one-day record 84th half-century to lift the hosts to an eight-run victory on Monday as the hosts pulled back to a 2-1 deficit in the seven-match series. The series opener was washed out. Both teams retained the eleven that played in the previous game in Chandigarh. Tendulkar, 34, who holds the one-day record for most runs (15,563), centuries (41) and fifties (84), becomes the second player after Sri Lanka's [Images] Sanath Jayasuriya to play in 400 one-dayers.
