Hyderabad well-placed against Punjab November 16, 2007 20:09 IST Punjab trail Hyderabad by 163 runs, with seven wickets in hand, after scoring 216 for three in their first innings on the second day of the Ranji Trophy league match in Mohali on Friday. Hyderabad were all out for 379 earlier in the day. Resuming at the overnight score of 310 for 7, Hyderabad lost their last three wickets -- of Amodh Shinde (36), S M Shoaib (32) and Ashwin Yadav (17) -- for the addition of 69 runs. Manpreet Gony claimed the wickets of Shinde and Shoaib while Yadav was caught by Amanpreet Singh off Ankur Kakkar, who ended the innings with a haul of four wickets for 55 runs. Gony, with three for 86 runs, was the other successful Punjab bowler. The hosts' opening pair of Ravneet Ricky (37) and Karan Goel (75) laid the foundation for the Punjab innings. Ricky was the first to return to the pavilion, when the board read 88. Goel and Ravi Inder (20) added 54 runs for the second wicket in the form of Inder. Goel did not last long and was out after the addition of eight runs. His 75 included 10 hits to the fence and two sixes. Pankaj Dharmani (52) and Uday Kaul (22) added 66 runs for the unbroken third wicket stand at close. P P Ojha, with two wickets for 86 runs, was the main wicket-taker for the visitors.
