The first one-day international between India and Sri Lanka, relocated to Kolkata's Eden Gardens on February 8, will be a day-night encounter, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said on Saturday.

The match was shifted from Pune's Nehru stadium after the Maharashtra Cricket Association "expressed some apprehension regarding smooth conduct of the match," BCCI Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty said in a statement.

"In view of the development, the Tour Programmes and Fixtures' Committee of the BCCI has allotted the match to the Cricket Association of Bengal, which is the next venue as per the rotation policy of the BCCI," the statement added.

The Lankans will arrive in Mumbai on February 2 and play a warm-up game at the Mumbai Cricket Association's ground at the Bandra-Kurla Complex on February 5 before leaving for Kolkata the next morning.

"The match would be played between the Lankans and a team comprising players of Mumbai who are not in the team for the Ranji Trophy final (February 2-6 at the Wankhede stadium)," Shetty said.
