Herschelle Gibbs's appeal against a two-Test ban for making derogatory comments about Pakistanis will take place on Wednesday via teleconference, the International Cricket Council has said in a statement.

Stump microphones picked up the South African batsman using foul and abusive language during the first test against Pakistan at Centurion on January 14.

Former Australian captain Richie Benaud will preside as Appeals Commissioner.

The appeal is to be processed ahead of the third test starting in Cape Town on Friday.

"The teleconference will also involve Gibbs, his legal representative, ICC match referee Chris Broad and a legal representative acting on his behalf," the statement said on Tuesday.

An ICC in-house lawyer will also be present on the call in an administrative capacity.

South Africa won the first test by seven wickets while Pakistan won the second at Port Elizabeth by five wickets on Monday.
