Karachi's young all-rounder Fawad Alam was the only notable inclusion in Pakistan's provisional squad for the upcoming cricket World Cup which otherwise contained no surprise.

Alam made the shortlist, which has been sent by the selection committee to the Pakistan Cricket Board, following his consistent performances in domestic cricket for the past two seasons, Pakistan Cricket Board sources said.

The World Cup is to be held in the West Indies in March-April.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has kept January 13 as a cut-off date for all participating nations to send their shortlist of 30 probables with the final 15-member squads to be named by February 13.

The list of probables is yet to be officially announced said PCB sources.

Southpaw Fawad's inclusion means that Pakistan have named two left-arm spinners, Abdul Rehman being the other one, besides leg-spinner Danish Kaneria.

The board has already named Inzamam-ul Haq as the captain for the World Cup.
