India Test batsman Wasim Jaffer will miss Mumbai's match against Pakistan national champions Karachi Urban next month due to a knee injury, a cricket official said on Tuesday.

The opener was to have led the Indian domestic champions in the annual four-day Mohammad Nasser Trophy from Sept. 8 against hosts Karachi, winners of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy last season.

Jaffer, 29, has been advised to take six weeks rest but is expected to be fit for the home Test series against Pakistan starting on Nov. 22.

The Mohammad Nasser Trophy is contested by the national champions of India and Pakistan.
