The BCCI on Wednesday appointed India's under-19 coach Lalchand Rajput as interim cricket manager of the senior team for the Twenty-20 World Championship after deciding to advertise for the coach's post within a week.

Former Test player Rajput, 45, will take over from Chandu Borde [Images] who took charge in June for the one-dayers in Ireland and would continue till the end of the England tour, BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla told reporters in New Delhi.

Shukla said the Board's office bearers, who met at president Sharad Pawar's [Images] residence, have decided to advertise for the coach's post within a week.

"We expect to make an appointment soon after that," said Shukla without specifying a time-frame.

To build a new National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and award the Twenty20 International against Australia on October 20 to Cricket Club of India, Mumbai, were among other decisions taken by the BCCI.

"We had applied with the Karnataka government and have been given 30 acres of land to build the infrastructure," Shukla said.
