Endorsements no issue: BCCI

September 03, 2006 21:05 IST

The Board of Control for Cricket in India categorically said it sees no problems over any likely conflict of interest between its official sponsors and the players' individual endorsement contracts.

"There's no problem on the issue. The players have agreed to wear the official team sponsors' logo in all tournaments," said BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah.

The explanation came following newspaper reports that trouble is brewing on the issue of players' endorsements between them and the BCCI.

"They have to inform us about their endorsement contracts," he added.

Shah also announced that one of the team's sponsors, Sahara, have already been cleared by the International Cricket Council for their logo to be used during the forthcoming Champions Trophy.

The world governing body insists that no ambush marketing takes place during the duration of the tournament and their sponsors' interests are protected.
