Styris may miss semi-final

Harish Kotian in Mohali | October 31, 2006 16:33 IST

Injury is likely to keep New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris out of Thursday's ICC Champions Trophy semi-final against Australia.

"Styris is pretty unlikely. He looks pretty doubtful for the game, as he is still suffering from hamstring and back injuries," New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming informed in Mohali on Tuesday.

Fast bowler Shane Bond's fitness is also cause for concern, but he is expected to recover in time for the match.

"Bond picked up a hamstring in the last game. We will assess his fitness in practice today and see how it goes. But, hopefully, he will be all right tomorrow," Fleming added.

Meanwhile, Australia captain Ricky Ponting declared that his team has no fitness worries.

He said all-rounder Shane Watson, who was down with cramps in the last match against India, is fit to play.
