India elect to bat at Mohali

Harish Kotian in Mohali | October 29, 2006 14:45 IST

Indian captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in the final match of the preliminary round of the ICC Champions Trophy at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali on Sunday.

The team which wins this match will secure the last remaining semi-final spot. New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies have already entered the last four.

India were forced to make a few changes from the team that lost to the West Indies in their last match.

Yuvraj Singh and Ajit Agarkar, who have been ruled out with injury, were replaced by Mohammad Kaif and S Sreesanth respectively.

All-rounder Dinesh Mongia came in place of left-arm seamer R P Singh.

Australia named an unchanged team from the one that beat England in their last match in Jaipur.

The pitch is expected to have a bit of bounce, but the swing will be much less as compared to the previous matches played in Mohali.

This will also be Steve Bucknor's 150th one-dayer as an umpire.

Teams:

India: Rahul Dravid (captain), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Kaif, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Mongia, M S Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Munaf Patel and S Sreesanth.

Australia: Ricky Ponting (captain), Adam Gilchrist, Shane Watson, Damien Martyn, Andrew Symonds, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken, Glenn McGrath.
