Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer [Images] has ridiculed reports that his team refused to take the field against England [Images] in the Oval Test as part of a match-fixing racket.

"It is stupid and comical to link what happened in the Oval Test to match-fixing," Woolmer told reporters in Lahore [Images].

A meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports and Culture on Monday had questioned the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Dr Naseem Ashraf about rumours that the Oval Test was not completed due to match-fixing.

Ashraf had denied the rumours and said this was not possible as not only the PCB but also the International Cricket Council (ICC [Images])'s anti-corruption unit keeps a close watch on match fixing activities.
