Indian off-spinner Ramesh Powar [Images] has been ruled out of the opening one-day international against the West Indies [Images] in Jamaica due to injury, a senior board official said on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old all-rounder twisted his ankle during practice on Monday and sat out of the warm-up match against Jamaica at Montego Bay on Tuesday.

"I received an e-mail from John Gloster [physiotherapist] that Powar will miss the first one-dayer [on Thursday]," BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said.

India will play five one-dayers and four Tests in the West Indies.

The tourists scored a convincing 116-run victory over Jamaica XI in their warm-up match.
