Virender Sehwag is a free-spirited soul on a cricket field. Off it he is mild-mannered and almost shy. But his recent utterances seem to have angered the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Sehwag told the media this weekend that the Indian team sometimes missed former skipper Sourav Ganguly. On the issue of player burnout, Sehwag agreed that the team was playing too much cricket and that captain Rahul Dravid had taken up the issue with BCCI President Sharad Pawar.

The BCCI was quick to react. Ordering a gag on Sehwag, BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah said, 'Sehwag has been warned verbally from speaking to the media on the burnout and Ganguly issue. Players cannot speak on Board policies and selection matters.'
