Queensland won Australia's domestic first-class cricket championship for the sixth time with a record-breaking win over Victoria on the fifth and final day in Brisbane on Tuesday.

Queensland won the match by an innings and 354 runs, the biggest margin in the history of the tournament formally known as the Sheffield Shield.

Queensland declared their first innings on 900-6, 556 in front of Victoria, after Jimmy Maher (223), Shane Watson (201), Martin Love (169) and Clinton Perren (173) chalked up big scores.

Victoria, who needed to win the match to claim the title, collapsed to be all out for 202 in their second innings. Left-arm quick Mitchell Johnson claimed six for 51 from 20 overs.
