Indian team unhappy with hotel

Onkar Singh in Mohali | March 09, 2006 14:08 IST

Defiant attitude of the Indian team took the Punjab Cricket Association by surprise as they refused to stay in a hotel, which they felt was not according to their status.

Chandigarh faces shortage of rooms in leading hotels throughout the season because of tourist traffic to different places in Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir [Images] and Himachal Pradesh.

Due to this reason the Indian team was booked in Hotel Mountview in Sector 10.

The team had almost checked in when they learnt that the English team had been booked in the Taj Hotel.

"There after the team decided to put its foot down and the same was conveyed to the hosts. We had a harrowing time in finding rooms for the team in the Taj hotel," a PCA official told rediff.com in Mohali.

Interestingly, the team was booked in the Taj hotel when the players came here for a conditioning camp. Despite the fact that the schedule of the England [Images] India series was known well in advance someone in the PCA forgot to book the rooms for the Indian team.
