Worcestershire batsman Vikram Solanki has been called up to England's [Images] one-day squad for the fourth international against Sri Lanka [Images] at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

A statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board on Tuesday said Solanki had been recruited as cover for Kevin Pietersen [Images] and Paul Collingwood [Images], who have injuries to their left knee and left thigh respectively.

With only nine months remaining until the World Cup in the West Indies [Images], England have been unable to field their Ashes heroes Michael Vaughan [Images], Andrew Flintoff [Images], Ashley Giles or Simon Jones in the one-dayers because of injuries.

Sri Lanka have an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
