Former West Indies [Images] fast bowler Ian Bishop says Indian paceman VRV Singh may have not been among the wickets in the first two Tests against West Indies but India should persist with him given his promise and potential.

Bishop also said he was impressed with the show of quickie Munaf Patel [Images], playing his first ever Test series outside India.

"It would be a grave error if VRV is sacrificed after this series only because he hasn't picked up many wickets. He is a strong lad and has the potential to hurry the batsmen," Bishop said after spending time with the young Indian pacers at the nets on Monday.

"Irfan (Pathan) is an out and out swing bowler while VRV Singh is one who has shown good promise in the first two matches," he added.

The Punjab bowler has claimed two wickets so far from the first two Tests against the West Indies, both of which ended in draws.

Bishop, who spoke to both VRV and Patel, is believed to have passed some valuable tips to the duo for the remainder of the series.

"But one with whom I have truly been impressed is Munaf Patel. He has really bowled well in the first two games," he said.

On Kerala [Images] bowler S Sreesanth [Images], he said, "he had the problem of a collapsible front foot at the point of delivery but it is good that he has realised the problem on his own."
