Veteran leg-spinner Anil Kumble [Images] failed to live up to his high standards, as he picked only one wicket for Surrey against Derbyshire in their Pro40 Division Two match at Chesterfield on Monday.

Kumble conceded 35 runs in eight overs, but Nayan Doshi, son of former India cricketer Dilip Doshi, returned five for 30 in 7.4 overs to restrict Derbyshire to 207 in 39.4 overs at Queen's Park.

Surrey emerged victorious by overhauling the target for the loss of two wickets in 27.2 overs.

Openers James Benning and Alistair Brown put them on the way with 66 and 106 respectively, adding 155 for the first wicket.

After Azhar Mahmood sent both the Derbyshire openers back for just 22, and Kumble and Rikki Clarke scalped Michael Di Venuto and Chris Taylor respectively, the six-feet-four-inch Doshi, who bowls left-arm spin like his father, came into action to claim the remaining wickets.

Taylor was the top scorer for Derbyshire with 44 off 52 balls, aided by five fours, while Di Venuto (34), Hassan Adnan (36) and Graham Wagg (36) were the other major contributors.
